昼夜节律,即生物钟,已得到科学家的广泛研究。昼夜节律赋予了人类行为和生理学的时间模式,使身体内在与外在环境的预期变化保持一致,被扰乱的昼夜节律会对健康产生影响。熬夜会增加代谢紊乱的风险,从代谢和心血管疾病的风险增加到精神疾病和癌症。

近日,华盛顿州立大学的研究人员在" Journal of Pineal Research "期刊上发表了题为"Night shift schedule causes circadian dysregulation of DNA repair genes and elevated DNA damage in humans"的研究。

国际癌症研究机构(IARC)召集的一个独立委员会特别宣布夜班工作“可能对人类致癌”。数年的实验和观察性研究表明,夜班工人面临几种癌症的风险增加

尽管先前的研究发现夜班工作与多种疾病之间存在联系,但长期破坏人体昼夜节律可能增加患癌风险的机制尚不清楚。

研究人员招募了14名健康志愿者,进行了为期7天的全面实验室研究。在验室中,一半的受试者完成了72小时的模拟日班计划,而另一半则完成了模拟的夜班计划。模拟后,参与者完成了一个恒定的常规规程,在恒定的光照下他们保持清醒24小时。

研究人员说,模拟的夜班时间表显著改变了癌症标志性途径中所涉及基因的正常昼夜节律。DNA修复途径在模拟的白班日程安排中显示出丰富的节律基因,但在模拟的白班日程安排中没有。

这表明不仅某些昼夜节律的破坏直接改变了某些与癌症相关的基因的表达,而且夜班安排似乎对人体的天然DNA修复过程也产生了负面影响。转到体内实验,研究人员试图更好地了解这些基因表达变化对健康细胞的影响。

华盛顿州立大学睡眠与表现研究中心主任表示:“夜班工人面临着巨大的健康差异,从代谢和心血管疾病的风险增加到精神疾病和癌症。现在是时候为这些服务水平不足的基本工人找到诊断和治疗解决方案,以便医学界可以应对他们独特的健康挑战。”
