J Clin Endocrinol Metab:晚上使用较多人造光源增加民众肥胖风险

奈良医科大学医学院的Kenji Obayashi博士指出,这一结论是合理的,因为随着人类的进化,人类已经习惯晚上光照弱而白天光照强的外界环境。这是第一项证明光照强度与昼夜节律的变化影响民众体重的证据信息,且对研究人员进行民众轮班工作对肥胖风险影响的后续研究有重要作用。

研究人员对1110名平均年龄为72岁的民众进行了为期2天的光照测试,同时收集了参与者的腰围、身高和体重等信息,并要求他们填写关于吸烟、饮酒和社会经济地位等信息的问卷调查。21个月后再次进行民众数据信息收集和填写问卷调查。

研究开始时,138人腹部肥胖,研究人员将其定义为腰围占身高的比重超过0.6。其余972人没有腹部肥胖。 

研究人员使用勒克斯反映光照强度。例如,在灿烂的阳光下,室外的光线照度约为11000勒克斯,黄昏时则为约11勒克斯。若在室内,靠近窗口的照度约为1000勒克斯,而远离窗口部位的照度约为25-50勒克斯。

研究人员发现,在研究初期,腰围较大的参与者往往在白天接受的光照度较弱,而晚上较强。通过随访,研究人员发现晚上接受光照度超过3勒克斯的民众更易出现腰围的增加。而在白天接受光照度超过500勒克斯的民众在随访期间腰围逐渐减少。夜晚接受光照度较高的民众BMI也会随之增加。

Charles Czeisler博士指出,人造光强度大增加与增加民众肥胖风险有关。睡前一小时和醒前一小时增加光照度会导致民众体重的增加,而白天接受较多光照可使民众减肥。但是由于研究人员仅收集了为期两天的数据信息,因此还需要后续研究。

从生理学角度来看,波长较短(蓝光)的光源对人类生物节律有更多的影响,所以晚上使用这些光源(蓝光)将增加民众肥胖的风险。年轻人比老年人对光更敏感,他指出,这可能对年轻人有更大的影响。因此研究人员建议,人们应在白天接受较多的阳光,减少晚上使用电视、智能手机和卧室灯等人造光源,这将对预防肥胖十分有效。
