最后共确定了490例心源性猝死病例。1至35岁人群心源性猝死的发生率为1.3/100000;72%的病例为男孩或青年男性。31-35岁的人群的心源性猝死的发生率最高(3.2/100000),16-20岁的人群不明原因的心源性猝死发生率最高(0.8/100000)。心源性猝死最常见的原因是冠状动脉疾病(24%)和遗传性心肌病(16%)。除31-35岁人群冠状动脉疾病是其最常见病因外,其他所有年龄组中不明原因的心源性猝死(40%)比例最高。与明确病因的心源性猝死相比,年龄较小和夜间死亡与不明原因的心源性猝死独立相关。113例(27%)不明原因的心源性猝死病例中31例(27%)确定存在临床相关的心脏基因突变。随访期间确定13%的不明原因的心源性猝死的家庭中存在遗传性心血管疾病。

总而言之,尸检联合基因检测可大大增加确定儿童和年轻人心源性猝死病因的可能。
