“直接”和“间接”通路在运动障碍性疾病的病理生理学中发挥重要的作用。两者均从纹状体穿过苍白球内侧和黑质,后者绕回至苍白球外侧和丘脑底核。解剖学上,上述通路位于纹状体至苍白球的神经纤维束(striatofugal bundle)内,铅笔样神经束呈放射状穿过苍白球(首先由Wilson描述;图1),然后如梳子状离开苍白球前往黑质(1896年由Edinger描述;图2)。一个世纪之后,这些结构可以在活体人脑中呈现(图1D,2A)。
