BioNTech专门研究基于信使RNA（mRNA）的药物和疫苗，是第一家将基于mRNA的个体化癌症疫苗纳入临床试验的生物技术公司。它目前在临床试验中有七种产品，需要大量资金来推进。

BioNTech首席执行官兼联合创始人Ugur Sahin教授评论说："此次融资是一个重要的里程碑，它可以表明我们迄今为止的科学和初步临床记录。"

该公司晚期黑色素瘤的主要候选药物RO7198457，用作与MSD的PD-1单抗Keytruda（pembrolizumab）的联合治疗，已开始进行2期临床试验。该药物的第二个2期阶段试验也作为单一疗法和Roche的PD-L1单抗Tecentriq（atezolizumab）联合在一系列实体瘤中进行评价。

上个月，BioNTech和合作伙伴Genmab开始了针对PD-L1和4-1BB双特异性抗体的第一阶段1 / 2a试验 - 旨在消除对实体瘤的免疫应答的制动，同时加速对恶性细胞的T细胞攻击。

紧接着是基于德国生物技术的FixVAC平台的三种mRNA疫苗，分别用于黑素瘤、人乳头瘤病毒（HPV）诱导的头颈癌和三阴性乳腺癌（TNBC）。
