MedSci报道:虽然国内有些专家曾辟谣说,目前没有明确证据证明环境污染与疾病增加,寿命减短有关。实际上,在国际上有关环境的大规模研究早已证实,环境污染的严重危害程度,不仅可以增加呼吸系统疾病,同时还会增加肿瘤,中风,高血压,糖尿病等严重慢性疾病。

美国国家毒性项目计划工作组(National Toxicology Program Workshop Review)一项分析表明,环境中持续性有机污染物(POP)能与II型糖尿病的发生高度相关。

根据瑞典乌普萨拉大学研究人员于2012年7月16日在线发表在Environmental International 期刊上的一项研究,血液中含有高水平的多氯联苯(polychlorinated biphenyl, PCB)和双对氯苯基三氯乙烷(dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, DDT,又叫滴滴涕)的个人有更大的风险患上中风。乌普萨拉大学心血管流行病学教授Lars Lind说,“这是第一项研究评估高水平的环境有机污染物与中风之间是否存在关联。研究结果证实了这一点。”

在此之前,研究人员对898名老年人进行的研究已证实在血液中,高水平的PCB和在一定程度上,高水平的杀虫剂与颈动脉粥样硬化相关联。因为颈动脉粥样硬化是中风的一个重要的危险因素,所以研究人员开展另一项分析:在5年之后追踪同样的898个人以便研究PCB和中风之间是否可能存在关联。

在这5年期间,总共有35个人经历中风。血液中含有高水平PCB的那些人患上中风的风险大约是那些血液中含有低水平PCB的那些人的2倍,即便是把诸如高血压、糖尿病和体重过重之类的传统性中风危险因素考虑在内,也是如此。那些血液中含有高水平杀虫剂(如DDT)的那些人在未来患上中风的风险也提高了2倍。

如今,PCB和DDT在瑞典和很多其他国家被禁止使用,但是因为它们能够持久存在,所以它们仍然在环境中广泛分布。它们通过我们吃的食物被摄入和储存在体内
