Cancer Res:西乐葆有助于抑制肿瘤细胞生长

在一个实验动物模型中,佛罗里达斯克里普斯研究所的研究人员发现,西乐葆可减缓II型神经纤维瘤(NF2)患者癌细胞的生长速率。他们认为,该药物对其他类型的肿瘤细胞或许有相似的效果。 

西乐葆是一种非甾体类抗炎药(NSAID),主要用途是治疗关节炎和强直性脊柱炎等引起的疼痛和炎症,同时可缓解月经疼痛等不适。这种药物的作用机理是抑制相关酶类对前列腺素的产生和分泌以减轻机体疼痛和某些部位的肿胀。 

据研究人员介绍,西乐葆的靶向酶是cox-2,以减轻机体疼痛和炎症。cox-2在生产前列腺素方面也发挥着至关重要的作用,在某些肿瘤患者体内,cox-2水平较高。TSRI副教授Joseph Kissil指出,他们认为,肿瘤患者体内可能存在某种信号通路以激活某些基因并进一步促进肿瘤细胞的生长及延长其生存周期,它通过刺激并激活某些酶(包括cox-2)参与炎症反应。

在动物研究中,研究人员探究西乐葆对NF2肿瘤细胞的影响。实验动物每日接受一定剂量的止痛药物,并定期进行成像检查,以评估肿瘤的大小。研究发现,服用西乐葆的动物模型的肿瘤生长明显慢于对照组。
 
Guerrant博士指出,由此看出,COX2抑制剂对肿瘤细胞的生长有抑制作用。
