最近,来自波士顿大学医学院的研究人员发现,G蛋白途径抑制子2GPS2)可以作为线粒体逆行信号的介导者,和核编码的线粒体基因的转录激活剂。

在分化的小鼠脂肪细胞和棕色脂肪组织(BAT)中,GPS2调节的从线粒体到细胞核的转运对于线粒体去极化的核应激反应的转录激活,以及基础线粒体的生物合成十分重要。

在细胞核中,通过抑制Ubc13介导的泛素化,靶向基因启动子的GPS2能够调节组蛋白H3K9的去甲基化和RNA POL2的激活。

这些发现共同揭示了线粒体基因转录的另一层调控,揭示了直接的线粒体 - 细胞核通讯途径,并且表明,GPS2逆行信号是哺乳动物线粒体应激反应的关键组成部分。
