最近,研究人员探究了酰基高丝氨酸内酯(AHLs)对溶血活性和酿脓链球菌 M6 S165的生存能力影响。研究人员发现,带有不少于12个碳原子脂肪酸侧链的AHLs通过下调参与链球菌溶血素S生成的sag操纵子的表达,从而抑制了溶血活性。并且,抑制剂AHLs上调了转录调控因子LuxR的表达。扫描电子显微镜实验显示LuxR与sagA上游区域互作。研究人员在更高浓度(Mm级)中观察显示,AHL调控的杀菌活性是一个能量依赖的过程,即受制于葡萄糖和铁离子的需求。另外,高铁色素转移因子FtsABCD促进了AHLs在链球菌细胞膜上的运输。最后,研究人员指出,这项研究阐释了先前并没有报道的AHLs在S. pyogenes毒性调控中的角色。
