文章中,研究者Paul Kroon同其研究团队研究表明,绿茶和苹果中的多酚类化合物可以阻断一种名为VEGF的信号分子,该分子在机体中会诱发动脉粥样硬化,同时其也是某些抗癌药物的新型靶点。在机体中,VEGF是血管发生的主要诱导子,血管发生对于癌症进展非常重要,同时其也对粥样硬化斑块的形成非常重要,斑块破裂则会诱发机体患心衰和中风。

利用来自人类血管的细胞进行研究,研究人员表明,来自绿茶中的低浓度多酚绿茶提取物(Epigallocatechin Gallate,EGCG)及来自苹果中的原花青素可以阻断VEGF的关键信号功能。通过食物中的多酚类化合物抑制VEGF信号在此前的研究中已经进行过,而本文研究则提供了新的研究证据,即多酚类化合物可以直接干预VEGF信号来对其进行阻断,当你吃完富含多酚类的食物后你就会在机体血液中明显观察到其水平升高了。

如果多酚类化合物的效应在机体中也可以发生,就可以将人类机体的健康效益同膳食多酚相联系起来;而同时多酚类化合物还可以激活另外一种酶类信号系统,该系统在血液中可以产生一氧化氮,其可以帮助扩张血管抑制血管损伤;VEGF自身就可以刺激一氧化氮的产生,因此阻断VEGF的抗癌药物同时也会降低机体的一氧化氮水平,从而引发某些患者高血压风险的增加。
