本研究设计了2项随机对照研究,评估了膳食能量限制期间蛋白质的摄入对超重和肥胖成年人睡眠指标的影响。

研究1中,14名参与者(3名男性和11名女性;平均年龄为56岁;BMI:30.9±0.6 )进行膳食能量限制,摄入牛肉和猪肉或大豆和豆类,作为主要的蛋白质来源,连续进行4周饮食,重复3次,获得的能量分别为从蛋白质中获得总能量的10%(对照),20%,或30%。基线时期以及每次一个阶段结束时,使用匹兹堡睡眠质量指数(PSQI)问卷评估研究对象的全球睡眠评分(GSS)。

研究2中,44名参与者(12名男性和32名女性;平均年龄为52岁;BMI:31.4±0.5)进行为期3周的基线能量平衡膳食,摄入0.8g蛋白·kg/(BMI·d)。然后,23名研究对象摄入正常蛋白(NP,控制),21名进行高蛋白能量限制饮食,共进行16周。基线3周以及4周、8周、12周和16 周的干预期间评估PSQI。GSSs范围从0到21任意单位(au),值越高结果越差。

研究1发现,较高的蛋白量可提高与蛋白质来源无关的GSSs。对比摄入10%与20%的蛋白质是,发现摄入10%的蛋白质GSS较高,摄入30%蛋白GSS居中。研究2中发现,基线时期,NP组和HP组GSS并无差别。随着时间的推移, NP组的GSS并未改变,而HP组的GSS却有所改善。干预结束后,NP和HP组的GSSs分别为5.9±0.5和4.0±0.6au。

总而言之,该研究结果发现,在超重和肥胖的成年人中,消耗的能量大部分来自于蛋白质,且节食会提高睡眠质量。
