科学家:“我们真的应该吃更多的昆虫”

据外媒报道,你今天早餐吃了什么?昨晚的晚餐又吃了什么?如果虫子不在你的菜单你可能是在伤害我们的祖先。至少来自罗格斯大学的研究人员这么认为,日前,他们刊文解释了虫子还应该被当做人类食物来源的原因。这篇发表在《Molecular Biology and Evolution》上的文章并不只是谈到了虫子饮食的好处,另外它还指出,人类体内实际上本身就有吃虫子的想法,只不过大部分人都没有充分发现这项潜能而已。

忽略人类看似没有吃虫子的天性,研究小组着手研究虫子是否适合灵长类动物和人类的消化系统。罗格斯大学博士研究生、该项研究的首席作者Mareike Janiak解释称,长期以来普遍的看法是,哺乳动物没有产生能够分解昆虫外骨骼的酶,所以它们被认为很难消化,但他们现在从蝙蝠和老鼠的研究发现这个观点是错误的。

据了解,被认为很难消化的昆虫外骨骼部分叫壳多糖。研究中,科研人员对近30种灵长类动物的基因进行了调查,结果他们发现,虽然现代灵长类动物体内用于消化壳多糖的CHIA基因数量非常少,但它们至少都有一个复制该基因的能力 ,这也意味着人类完全可以消化掉昆虫。

Janiak指出,由于一些灵长类动物开始进化得更大、更喜欢在白天活动,于是它们主要的饮食对象变成了水果、树叶等,而昆虫对于它们来说变得不再像以前那么重要,随之而来的是消化酶也发生了变化。
