最近，有研究人员就进行了评估耳蜗移植对生活质量影响的研究。研究完成了2个试验，具体是调查了患有UHL且接受CI的病人的生活质量结果。研究发现，在患有中度到永久性UHL的病人中，CI能够显著的改善生活质量，并且在CI完成1个月之后就能从中受益。UHL群体报道在术前和术后期间的感官障碍要比常规CI和电声刺激（EAS）患者程度更轻，这也许是由于正常听力耳朵的存在的结果。另外，所研究的每个小组在助听器效果评估简表（APHAB）中表明，CI的使用能够显著的改善患者的生活质量。

最后，研究人员指出，在大多数的UHL案例中，耳蜗移植能够显著的改善生活质量。生活质量测量结果表明了感官耳鸣严重度的减轻以及在噪音中语言认知、空间听觉和听力的主观改善。虽然自我报道的困难在UHL群体中要比常规CI和EAS群体更少，在3个小组中所有患者在使用CI后，都报道了生活品质具有改善。
