在芽殖酵母Saccharomyces cerevisiae中,细胞溶质pH(pHc)控制生长并响应营养物可用性。细胞溶质pH在葡萄糖消耗时降低。

最近,研究人员研究了葡萄糖可用性,pHc和中心营养信号传导cAMP-蛋白激酶A(PKA)途径之间的相互作用。 

生长期期间的葡萄糖丰度通过调节PKA活性,增强葡萄糖耗尽时的酸化。这种主动控制的饥饿pHc降低与固定期存活率降低相关。 尽管PKA活性的变化影响酸化和存活,但饥饿pHc的靶向操作显示细胞溶质酸化是PKA的下游和时间寿命降低的致病因子。

因此,该研究表明,热量限制通过PKA和细胞溶质pH控制稳定期存活。
