通过膳食补充B族维他命能够减少PM2.5颗粒对机体细胞线粒体的损害

大气污染是一个全球性的公共卫生问题。空气中的微小颗粒对健康所产生的作用在分子机制上并没有被完全了解。已知的急性的吸入大量的PM2.5微小颗粒会造成DNA的甲基化变化从而引起炎症以及氧化应激(oxidative stress)。

在这一期的PNAS杂志中,Jia Zhong及其同事发现通过一项小型的实验发现在膳食中补充B族维他命(B-vitamin)对吸入PM2.5微小颗粒所产生的DNA甲基化变化和线粒体损伤有一定的抑制作用。参加本次试验的十名健康成年人接受两小时的PM2.5(250 μg/m3)颗粒的吸入,其中部分参加者接受了每天膳食补充B族维他命(2.5 mg叶酸, 50 mg vitamin B6, 以及1 mg vitamin B12),其余参加者接受了安慰剂。

在试验前和试验后,从参与者的血液中分离了CD4+ T细胞,通过对其DNA甲基化的变化的比较,研究者发现PM2.5会造成细胞的DNA甲基化的变化改变线粒体的氧化代谢, 另外PM2.5会造成11.1%的线粒体DNA的减少,而膳食摄入B族维他命能够减少这些变化。

这项研究证明,通过膳食补充B族维他命能够减少PM2.5颗粒对机体细胞的DNA甲基化影响和减少对线粒体的损害。
