最近,来自克利夫兰诊所的研究人员通过研究首次发现,靶向作用肠道微生物可以帮助抑制由富含红肉、鸡蛋及高脂肪乳制品而引发的心脏疾病;这项研究发现基于研究人员此前的研究结果,之前他们发现,氧化三甲胺(TMAO)—一种在动物脂肪消化过程中在肠道中产生的副产物,和动脉粥样硬化及心脏疾病的发生直接相关。

如今研究者在冷榨的特级初榨橄榄油和葡萄籽油中发现了一种名为DMB(3,3-二甲基-1-丁醇)的天然抑制剂可以帮助降低小鼠机体中TMAO级动脉粥样硬化的水平,该研究或为开发新型疗法来治疗心脏疾病提供了新的线索和希望。研究者Hazen表示,很多慢性疾病,比如动脉粥样硬化、肥胖及糖尿病等都和肠道微生物菌群相关,而且相关研究发现,我们可以通过靶向肠道微生物来有效抑制饮食诱导的心脏疾病的发生和进展。

TMAO是一种胆碱、磷脂酰胆碱及肉碱在消化过程中形成的肠道代谢物,这些物质在动物性产品中很多,血液中TMAO的水平和高风险的心脏病、中风及死亡直接相关;肉碱在红肉和肝脏中含量丰富,而胆碱和卵磷脂则在牛肉、蛋黄、肝脏及高脂乳制品中含量丰富。当前研究发现,靶向抑制TMAO产生的第一步,即共生微生物三甲胺(TMA)的产生,或许就可以帮助抑制饮食诱导的动脉粥样硬化症。

研究人员对喂食高胆碱和高肉碱的小鼠进行研究发现,利用DMB就可以成功抑制TMA的产生,而使用抑制剂的小鼠则机体中TMAO的水平较低,而且也不易发生动脉粥样硬化,DMB并不是一种抗生素,本文研究表明或可帮助开发一种疗法,在保护肠道菌群避免抗生素耐药性的同时还可以靶向作用特殊的肠道微生物通路。

最后研究者表示,我们发现靶向作用肠道微生物群落或可帮助有效阻断饮食诱导的心脏疾病,抑制肠道微生物废弃代谢物的产生或可降低TMAO的水平,并且帮助抑制饮食依赖的动脉粥样硬化的风险。
