First published in 1934, JBIS was the first to describe many aspects of space travel which are now commonplace. After 65 years of publication, JBIS is still concerned with originating and encouraging forward-looking ideas on how space exploration should develop. It is now produced as a 72 page volume every alternate month. JBIS features the work of individual space organisations, companies, universities and space projects, and areas of space science and space technology. Other issues cover rocket engineering and emerging technologies. In addition, themes for special issues of JBIS include Soviet Astronautics, interstellar travel and emerging technologies. JBIS is available to Society Members as either an alternative to Spaceflight magazine, or in addition on payment of an additional discounted fee.
