A major dilemma in e-commerce research, which this journal aims to address, is how to achieve a balance between the currency and the life span of knowledge.Electronic Commerce Research and Applications will contribute to the establishment of a research community which will create the knowledge, technology, theory, and applications for the development of electronic commerce, at the intersection of technological potential and business aims. The journal will focus on the evolution of design standards for the future as well as analysing past experience.Electronic commerce is a multi-disciplinary area, which should be developed in co-operation with existing fields such as Management Information Systems; Business and Artificial Intelligence; Marketing; Business Strategy and Re-engineering; Knowledge Management; Computer Science; and Telecommunications.
