张文宏解读2020年诺贝尔生理学或医学奖:我们跑赢过病毒性肝炎,相信这次也能跑赢新冠

今晚,诺贝尔生理或医学奖颁出,科学家哈维·阿尔特(Harvey J. Alter)、迈克尔·霍顿(Michael Houghton)和查尔斯·M·赖斯(Charles M. Rice)共同获奖,理由是发现丙型肝炎病毒(Hepatitis C virus)。以表彰他们与丙型肝炎的斗争中做出的决定性贡献。

丙型肝炎是导致世界各地人们肝硬化和肝癌的主要全球性健康问题。华山医院感染科主任张文宏教授的临床与研究领域,也包括丙肝领域。

张文宏教授解释到“在丙肝发现之前,临床上发现了不少非甲、非乙的肝炎,大家一直不知道是怎么回事。在这三名科学家开展工作之前,发现甲型和乙型肝炎病毒是向前迈出的关键步骤,但大多数血源性肝炎病例仍无法解释,而丙型肝炎病毒的发现揭示了剩余的慢性肝炎病例的病因,并使血液检测和新药成为可能,挽救了数百万人的生命“。

张文宏教授认为,三名科学家的发现的重要意义就在于为后续疾病防控指明了方向,比如明白了这类肝炎是通过血液传播,那么就相应采取血液检测、减少血液传播途径的方法,“切断”疾病的传播途径。也是基于这个方向,后续科研人员通过进一步明确机制,找到了靶向药物等治疗治疗,目前慢性丙型肝炎已成为可治愈的疾病,这是非常了不起的。数据显示,仅在我国,一般人群慢性丙肝(HCV)感染者约560万,惠及人群可窥一斑。

张文宏教授进一步解释到“丙肝病毒实现医学上的治愈,也让它成为人类历史上第一个慢性病毒感染获治愈的疾病。慢性病毒感染还有HIV、HPV,目前尚未做到这点。”事实上,人类历史上关于病原体的重要发现都获得了诺奖,此前乙肝病毒的发现、艾滋病病毒的发现也获得了诺奖。

鉴于人类与新冠病毒的鏖战还在继续,谈及这个特殊时期的诺奖,张文宏教授说,“这次诺奖的颁出再度说明感染学科领域与人类进化、人类历史的紧密关联,尽管是一个小小的学科,但可能发挥影响至深的作用,也希望更多人关心这个学科的发展。”

值得一提的是,从三名科学家最初的发现,到如今丙肝实现临床治愈,新药、新治疗手段问世,不过30年,这对于科学史上的突破进展的“年限”来说算短的,张文宏教授说:”这再次说明借助科技的力量,我们能够战胜病毒,之前我们跑赢了丙肝病毒,相信这次全球也能跑赢新冠病毒“。
